ABOUT THE ARTIST
She has described her paintings as the expression of ideas and feelings by means of pure color and forms.
Generally, the work is not narrative and does not depict an image. The painting is an object unto itself. Sometimes, however, the forms suggest buildings reflecting her great interest in architecture. Occasionally, she paints an actual city but always as a geometric abstraction. A fascination with geometry and rhythm are evident. Enjoying the infinite possibilities of the effect of adjacent colors, she often positions saturated colors against one another.
Sometimes she chooses to highlight the purity of the colors by outlining each hue in black or white. The work is about creating order and precision in a world filled with chaos, disorder, and violence. While the mathematically based order of the work reflects intellectualism, the passionate use of color provides the emotional content.
